Can I just with “my friend”?

The fondness in Cas’ tone. The fondness that those words imply. Dean and Cas are both really horrible at expressing how much they mean to each other and, when they do, they usually choose to do it at the worst of times

Cas used those words to soothe. He told Dean what Dean needed to hear - and the truth, to boot - but he brought it down a level. It wasn’t just Dean, it was “my friend”, it was ‘I’m talking to you, I’m talking to you and I care about you, and I understand, not as your responsibility, but as your friend.’

“You can’t save everyone - and I don’t expect you to.”
